Continuous feedback is reviewing an employee performance periodically depending on how effective the employee is, this can be done every two weeks and a 1-2-1 section held with the employee to let them know how they are performing and any room for improvement. Supporting the employee through training and coaching to get a better feedback in the next review. Doing performance appraisal more frequently is not a problem but how effective is this? Is it just a form of exercise or is actually a medium for an employee to know their strength and weaknesses and how they can improve and meet up with their KPI.
Managers are always busy with other daily task but unfortunately most organisation now deploy the job of an HR personnel to the managers. On the other hand, I will argue that performance review is best done by managers as they are the one managing the staff and setting the goals. Managers need to understand that if their employees are performance managed effectively, it makes their own job easy and the organisation profitability. In summarry an effective and continuos performance review is the key to a successful organisation.
As a matter of fact, most organisation now do a periodic performance review on their employee but the ones that are still doing an annual reviews need to change that culture. As this does not show a true reflection of how an employee has performed. Also for personal development is good to review employees periodically so they can see how they have performed progressively throughout the whole year.
